If you’re looking for the right relationship, it’s natural to focus on finding the right person. But before you begin a new relationship or “situationship,” it’s worth asking a different question:
Are you truly ready for the relationship you want?
Finding the right relationship isn’t just about chemistry or timing. It’s also about healing from the past, becoming clear about what you want, and learning how to date with intention instead of hope alone. Spoiler alert: trying to manifest “the one” isn’t always your best option. (Sorry. We know. But don’t worry, we’ll elaborate more in a minute.)
At the Boulder Psychic Institute, we teach that relationships are incredible growth opportunities. They can help you discover what you value, reveal unconscious patterns, and teach you more about yourself than almost any other experience. But they also require discernment. Not every relationship is meant to last forever, and not every person is meant to become your life partner.
Before you begin a new relationship, make sure you’ve made clean and clear separations from your past partner(s).
When a relationship ends, you separate physically, but the mental, emotional, and even spiritual separations can sometimes be incomplete. You want to make sure you’re not holding on to parts of that person’s energy and having that energy muck up your vibration.
Making separations is a core tenet of our philosophy. We teach that your energetic body functions best when it is free of foreign energy, including lingering energy from past relationships. Relationships are excellent teachers. Yes, that is true. But they can also leave residual gunk in your space if it isn’t properly cleaned out. Like when a house guest leaves a bunch of weird food in your fridge.
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting the relationship or pretending it never happened. It means keeping the wisdom you earned while releasing the beliefs, expectations, and energetic attachments that no longer belong to you. When you carry those into your next relationship, they can influence how you trust, communicate, and connect with someone new.
If you’re struggling to move on from a previous relationship, a healing can help you reset your energy and create a cleaner foundation for whatever comes next.

It’s common after a breakup to swing for the fence and look for “the one.” Here’s the thing. Fixating on finding that person can actually get in the way of becoming ready for them.
Maybe there is a life partner waiting for you. But showing up as your healed, clear self matters more than the search itself. Sometimes the dating you do right now, with a different purpose in mind, is exactly what prepares you for that connection when it shows up.
Psst… good news. You’re already whole—your soul’s journey isn’t to find this mythical “other half” before you can start living your life.
The planet has an abundance of people for you to choose from. You don’t have to spend your life looking for the needle in the haystack. PHEW.
Focus on becoming clear about the kind of relationship you actually want to create. That shift alone can make dating feel far more empowering and much less overwhelming. You want to create your relationships versus falling into them.
Now that you’ve cleared space from the past, it’s time to get clear about the future.
A lot of people stay in unhealthy relationships because they believe it’s their destiny. They convince themselves this person is their soul mate or twin flame, so they put up with behaviors they would never otherwise accept.
At the BPI, we see it differently.
You get to choose a partner consciously. That means knowing your dealbreakers before you’re emotionally invested.
What are your absolute dealbreakers? You want to know this so you don’t waste time with someone who is fundamentally incompatible with you and what you’re trying to do with your time on Earth.
Be honest with yourself about this list. You don’t want to nix someone because of something that actually isn’t the end of the world, but you also want to be confident about what you cannot and will not put up with.
Once you’ve defined your dealbreakers, trust them. Your list doesn’t exist to judge other people. It exists to help you make clear decisions that support the kind of life you’re trying to build.

Dealbreakers tell you what you’re no longer available for.
Now ask yourself: What do you actually want?
Get specific, not about hair color, height, or whether someone likes hiking. Get specific about how you want to feel in the relationship. What kind of life do you want to build together? How do you want to recharge with this person? What experiences do you hope you’ll share?
Many people know exactly what they don’t want but have never taken the time to define what they DO want. Clarity creates direction, and direction makes dating much easier.
Even if your long-term goal is finding a life partner, every relationship teaches you something different.
We often use the chakras, the seven main energy centers in the body, to better understand what your spirit is hoping to learn next. Each chakra represents different qualities, lessons, and areas of life.
During meditation, take a looksie at your chakras and ask which one represents the type of relationship that would best support your growth right now. The answer can offer valuable insight into what your spirit wants to explore through partnership.
For example, if your third chakra, located near your solar plexus, stands out, you may be looking for a relationship centered around action, adventure, confidence, and building something together. That relationship can teach you how to fuel your dreams and accomplish more alongside another person.
If your fifth chakra, located at your throat, draws your attention, communication may be your next lesson. You may be looking for someone who helps you speak more honestly, listen more deeply, and express yourself with greater confidence.
Use what you discover to communicate your desires with potential partners. Rather than hoping someone magically understands what you’re looking for, you’ll be able to articulate it with clarity and confidence. Even if you’re hoping to find someone to spend your life with, this exercise can help you understand what you’re truly ready to learn and experience in your next relationship.
Not sure what your spirit is hoping to learn through relationships? A psychic reading can offer insight into your current growth, relationship patterns, and the type of partnership that will support you best. Sometimes a little clarity changes everything.
Can you look at dating or relating to another person as a practice rather than something you either succeed or fail at?
Dating is kind of like working out. You have to do it to get the full experience. It’s not something you can just think about, meditate on, or manifest from your couch.
If it’s been a minute since you’ve been on the prowl, go on dates to get the experience. State what you want out loud. Date with a purpose, not just marriage, but to learn, grow, and discover what kind of relationship is right for you. Communicate your dealbreakers and your desires and, perhaps most importantly, get comfortable saying no.
The more you practice, the more prepared you’ll be when someone comes along who is genuinely aligned with you and what you’re looking to create.

Yes, flirty abundance is absolutely a thing.
Being a flirt isn’t about manipulating people or trying to get someone’s attention. It’s about being abundant. It’s about being open, generous, and receptive without attaching a bunch of expectation energy to every interaction.
Have you ever noticed that a genuinely good flirt makes you feel seen without making you feel pressured?
A good flirt is generous with tiny, sparkly “you’re cute” vibes. They hand out sincere compliments without expecting anything in return and aren’t attached to the outcome. If someone responds with a “no thank you,” they simply smile, wish them well, and move on.
That’s abundance.
When you stop approaching every interaction as though it has to become a relationship, dating becomes much lighter and much more enjoyable. You’re no longer trying to force an outcome. You’re simply allowing yourself to connect with other people while staying true to what you want.
This week, practice flirting. YASSSS.
Set your vibration to playfully exploring and hand out a few genuine compliments. Don’t overthink it. Flirting with someone doesn’t mean you’re saying, “Hello, let’s get married and sign a mortgage tomorrow.” It simply means you’re being generous with your energy.
Suppose someone takes your flirt as an invitation for more; practice saying yes or no. Both are valuable.
Healing from past relationships, getting clear about what you want, identifying your dealbreakers, and practicing how to communicate isn’t a perfect process. Like any skill, you’ll get better over time. As you continue to heal and grow, you’ll naturally become more available for the kind of relationship you’re hoping to create.

Finding the right relationship starts with becoming clear about what you want and releasing patterns that no longer serve you. At the Boulder Psychic Institute, we encourage healing from past relationships, identifying your dealbreakers, and dating from a place of abundance rather than fear. When your energy is clear, you’re much more likely to recognize a healthy relationship when it appears.
Yes. Healing doesn’t mean waiting until you’re “perfect.” It means making clean energetic separations from past relationships so you’re not bringing old expectations, hurts, or foreign energy into a new one. The healthier your energy is, the healthier your next relationship can be.
Pay attention to more than chemistry. Ask yourself whether your values, life goals, and dealbreakers align. Notice how you feel around them. Do you feel more like yourself, or do you feel like you’re constantly trying to earn their approval? A healthy relationship supports your growth instead of pulling you away from yourself.
The BPI doesn’t ask you to give up on the idea of a soul-level connection. What we do teach is that fixating on one predetermined person can keep you stuck in unhealthy relationships or waiting on the sidelines instead of doing the dating and healing work that actually prepares you for them.
Energetic cords are connections that naturally form between people through shared experiences, emotions, and intimacy. After a relationship ends, some of those connections may linger. Releasing old energetic attachments can help you feel more present, clear, and available for new relationships.
A psychic reading isn’t about predicting the exact day you’ll meet your future partner. Instead, it can help you understand your relationship patterns, identify energetic blocks, gain clarity about what you’re creating, and make choices that are more aligned with the kind of relationship you truly want.
Rather than asking why you attract the wrong people, ask what pattern your spirit is ready to heal. Every relationship offers information. As you clear old energy, strengthen your boundaries, and become more conscious of what you’re creating, you’ll naturally begin attracting different kinds of relationships.
